Conference Venue
The 28th IAPS Conference will be hosted by Universitat de Barcelona (UB), in collaboration with Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona (UAB), Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) and Universitat Politécnica de Catalunya (UPC). All of them are a renowned universities in the areas of teaching, research, innovation and transfer.
UB, the main venue, is an urban, open and cosmopolitan university like the city of Barcelona itself and one of the oldest institutions in Catalonia (created in 1450): a clear reflection of the political, social and economic events of the country and an important reference of its history.
The universities that suports Conference, are a socially responsibles institutions that cares for its community. It is committed to pursuing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and have integrated them into every area of their activity as it works towards achieving the aims of the 2030 Agenda .The commitment to society is one of the universities core missions and guides its efforts to address many of today's global challenges, including poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, wealth distribution, peace and justice.
Alongside its close historical ties with the city of Barcelona and with Catalonia as a whole. The Universities of Barcelona, are a global universities with a presence around the world and contributors to the European universities initiatives.
Opening ceremony will take place at the Paranymph Hall (Paranimfo).
The University of Barcelona's Historic Building, an iconic 19th century structure declared a National Cultural Asset of Interest, provides its most iconic spaces, which are a blend of history, tradition, and art. Its grand lobby, the majestic Paraninfo, the exquisite cloisters, the Ferran Soldevila gardens, and more, comprise a total of 30,000 m2 of a variety of spaces with singular artistic-cultural characteristics, situated in a prime location in the heart of the city and easily accessible.
The Paranimf of the University of Barcelona's Historic Building, designed by Elies Rogent, is the most iconic area of the structure. It was intended to be the center of the university's activities and is situated in the main part of the building, directly above the lobby. The construction of the Paranimf was finished in 1884, with the installation of six large paintings that depicted historical scenes. This space is the site of the university's most important events, such as the beginning of the academic year and the awarding of honorary degrees, as well as various academic, scientific, and cultural activities.
Sessions will take place in the Law Faculty (Facultat de Dret, UB)
The main building of the Faculty of Law is located on Diagonal Avenue, 684 in the district of Les Corts. The Facul ty of Law was built in 1958 and awarded the same year by the Foment de les Arts Decoratives (since 2005, Foment de les Arts i el Disseny-FAD). It is an isolated building surrounded by a garden and other buildings of the Faculty. The building is a rationalist work protected as a Cultural Asset of Local Interest. This was the venue of the International IAPS Conference in 1982.
